FAQ
Do I need to purchase Trip Insurance? And what if I have disabilities?
We strongly recommend that you purchase trip cancellation and delay, loss of luggage and airline ticket insurances. We also ask that you carefully review your medical insurance to determine whether you are adequately covered for any eventuality during your stay abroad. Purchasing additional traveler’s health insurance, including medical evacuation coverage, is recommended. If you have any pre-existing physical, mental or emotional disability that may require attention or treatments, you must report them in writing to Italy Retreats prior to the beginning of the tour. All participants must sign a Participant Waiver and Release of Liability prior to the trip.
How do I get, or renew a passport?
It takes up to 12 weeks to receive your passport from the date you applied so plan ahead. You can apply for a passport at your local post office. Also, the U.S State Department Passport Services offers online passport application and renewal information for U.S. citizens. If you need your visa or passport expedited, contact Zierer Visa Service. They specialize in fast, dependable, overnight passport and visa services. If you already have a passport be sure to check that you have at least six months left on it from your time of departure!
What’s the best way to keep belongings safe?
We recommend that you do not bring expensive jewelry or other personal items of great value. Bring copies of your passport and credit cards, keeping those copies in a separate place, and leave copies with someone at home as well. For any credit cards that you bring with you, be sure to call those companies before you depart and let them know your Italy travel dates.
Do I need to be in good shape?
We ask that you be in good physical condition. For any retreats near water you should know how to swim. For most retreats you should be able to walk at least a mile.
Will I have to carry my own luggage?
Please don’t bring more luggage than you can lift. You should be able to lift your luggage if necessary.
What will the weather be like?
Please take the time to review our pre-trip information so that you know what to expect in terms of weather and packing, for your specific trip.
How does Italy Retreats handle Acts of God and other situations that may disrupt retreats?
Any expenses caused by Acts of God, strikes, or other sorts of delays or events beyond our control, shall be borne by the participant. Italy Retreats reserves the right to change itineraries when necessary. We try to keep changes to a minimum, but unforeseen circumstances can happen. Italy Retreats will always keep the comfort and safety of its participants in mind and will make changes, as necessary, to protect its clients.
